Pediatric Hospice is end-of-life care provided to a terminal pediatric patient and their family by an interdisciplinary team. Pediatric hospice patients range in age from birth to 21 years old; however, pediatric hospice care services can begin prior to birth. Pediatric hospice care is family-centered, designed to support the physical, emotional, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient and their family. Care can be provided in a hospital setting or in the comfort of a family home. Pediatric hospice care does not always end with the death of the child, as hospice care providers can support the family through the grieving process. [77]
